Running for Good

The dear wife and I like to think of ourselves as charitable people. We give to a variety of charities. One of them is the World Food Programme (WFP), which helps to feed the needy all over the world. We met some of them at a function in LA, and when we were in Washington for the Cherry Blossom race, we managed to do a quick meet-up to say hello.

While talking about running and giving, they told us about an app called charitymiles. This app tracks your miles run, and then makes a donation to the charity of your choice (from their list). It doesn't cost you anything, since the donation comes from sponsors. You just have to be someone who runs with a phone. You turn on the app, go run, and when you're done, some company donates money for you. 25 cents per mile. The more miles you run, the more gets donated.

Check out the video at the link. These ladies would love for you to run some miles for WFP.

But there are also many more charities to choose from. It's one more way to motivate yourself to get out the door. You may not feel like running, but your run may help feed a refugee in Syria or an earthquake victim in Nepal. So get out there!
